Summary
Southwell landslip has a deep natural cleft caused by slippage with an eastward leaning mass. There is some evidence of quarrying on top of this mass on the seaward side. No obvious marks in a small quarry. Evidence of coastal quarrying is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1968.

Full Description
Southwell landslip has a deep natural cleft caused by slippage with an eastward leaning mass. There is some evidence of quarrying on top of this mass on the seaward side. No obvious marks in a small quarry. (1)
Evidence of coastal quarrying in the area of Southwell landslip, described above in (1-3), is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1968. The quarrying is visible over an area measuring approximately 140 m by 65 m. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
