Summary

The Coastal Footpath leaves Southwell Road at SY 69457069 and descends a former quarry track. Interesting examples of stone-cutting and scappled blocks, etc, survive in the area centred on SY69557070. Evidence of 19th/20th century quarrying is visible on aerial photographs of 1968.

Full Description

The Coastal Footpath leaves Southwell Road at SY 69457069 and descends a former quarry track. Interesting examples of stone-cutting and scappled blocks, etc, survive in the area centred on SY69557070. (1) Evidence of coastal quarrying in the area of Southwell landslip B, described above in (1-3), is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1968. The quarrying is visible over an area measuring approximately 340 m by 95 m. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
