Milestone inscribed 'II' in stone-walled curve of lower railway course below Verne at head of Tillycombe.(1) Marked as ‘Stone’ on 1889, 1900, 1927 and 1938 maps. (2-5) The 1825 Act for the Portland Railway stipulated the erection of stones at quarter-mile intervals along the line. (6)
