Summary
A bridge was built c1864 to carry Castle Road over the Weymouth & Portland Railway line to the exchange sidings with the Merchant’s Railway. Later rebuilt? Last track was removed in 1970. Pipes run along the railway course beneath the bridge, which is of iron on stone abutments.

Full Description
A bridge was built c1864 to carry Castle Road over the Weymouth & Portland Railway line to the exchange sidings with the Merchant’s Railway. Later rebuilt? After 1876 the line branched just east of the bridge to the dockyard and breakwater. (1-5) In 1900 this was opened to goods traffic to Easton by the Easton & Church Hope Railway. Last track was removed in 1970. Pipes run along the railway course beneath the bridge, which is of iron on stone abutments. (6)
