Full Description

The site of an open rope walk behind a terrace of buildings on the west side of St Michael's Lane marked on the 1888 Ordnance Survey maps (1). The plot is listed on the 1845 Bridport Tithe Map, but does not appear to have been a rope walk at this date. It is described in the apportionment as 'houses and garden' (2). The rope walk appears to have become disused by the beginning of the 20th century, as it is no longer shown on the 1902 Ordnance Survey map (3).
