A 19th century formal garden at Church Hatch public gardens is depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition map. Evidence from a contour survey conducted by The Christchurch Antiquarians suggests that elements of this garden are still visible on the ground as very slight earthworks. A ditched boundary visible on 1940's aerial photographs may be part of the formal garden earthworks and was plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
