Full Description
A WWII pillbox was recorded by Michael Hodges prior to 1982. it overlooked the east bank of the Stour and the railway line to the south. It was polygonal in plan, constructed in concrete with its aperture facing south. It formed part of the defences for the Military Engineering Experimental Establishment (MEXE)(1) where the Bailey Bridge was designed and built. It is not clear if the pillbox is still in existence.
