Full Description

George Kenway, manufacturer of rope, line, twine, shoethread and nets, had his premises at 42 South Street at the end of the 19th century. He is listed in the Trade Directories as being in South Street from 1880-1895 and at 45 South Street from 1895-1898. By 1905 he had moved to 2 St Michael’s Lane. (1) (2). The ropewalk is shown on the 1890 Ordnance Survey Map (3).
