Full Description

The Town Brewhouse and malthouse was a low L-shaped thatched building located to the east of West Mill, Bridport. The brewhouse was in private hands until 1650, when it was purchased by the Town Council. The profits were to be used for the relief of the poor and needy of Bridport. From the 1790s it saw intermittent use by a number of brewers. Later it was a pawn store, then weaving shops and finally an infant school.
