Monument record MDO20413 - Beaminster Pottery, Hogshill Street, Beaminster

A pottery on the south side of Hogshill Street was in operation by the early 19th century, manufacturing earthenware, tiles, chimney pots, etc. The buildings were demolished in 1890.

There was a pottery on the south side of Hogshill Street operating in the early 19th century. In 1830 George Hallett manufactured earthenware here and Robert and George Hallett are recorded as owners of the property in 1843. In 1867, Abraham Meech was making 'green and coarse ware, drainage pipes, tiles, chimney pots, etc' at the pottery. The last recorded potter was Robert Chambers, who operated until the 1880s.
