Full Description
Bowl barrow. <1>
SY 60488670. Mound, possible barrow, on south shoulder of Portesham Hill, in area of 'Celtic' fields and later quarrying. Diameter about 42 ft, height about 3 ft. <3>
A circular mound on a south-west-facing slope. Diameter 10.0m, height1.6m. On the downhill side. No visible ditch. Possible bowl barrow. In permanent pasture. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>
Also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs <6-7> measuring approximately 11.8 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
