Summary
A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-1902) Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who could find no trace of the kiln structure.

Full Description
A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-1902) Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who could find no trace of the kiln structure.
A circular hollow and a subrectangular hollow, adjoined by a surrounding bank, are visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs just east of this location {1-3} and may be related. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
