Monument record MDO21607 - Lime kiln, Sleech Wood, Lyme Regis
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the first edition (1886-9) but not shown on the second edition (1900-1902) or later Ordnance Survey maps, though the 1963 1:10,000 scale Ordnance Survey map shows a pit near this location. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who could find no trace of the kiln structure.
