Summary
A lime kiln recorded as ‘limekiln’ on the first edition (1886-9) Ordnance Survey map and ‘old limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-1902) and 1928 revision of the Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who noted that most (60-79%) of the kiln structure survived in fair condition, and that it had a pointed, stone-built draw arch.
