Monument record MDO21735 - Lime kiln near Upton Manor Farm, Loders
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the first edition (1886-9) and second edition (1900-1902) Ordnance Survey maps, but not marked on the 1928 revision of the Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who noted that little (20-39%) of the kiln structure survived in bad condition, and that it was not possible to determine what type of kiln construction this was.
