Monument record MDO21752 - Lime kiln near Stock Wood, Melbury Bubb
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A lime kiln recorded as ‘limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-2) Ordnance Survey map. The date of the kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. This kiln was visited by Peter Stanier in 1992-93, and he noted that very little (1-19%) of the structure survived; what remained was in bad condition and it was not possible to determine what type of kiln construction this was. The current (2006) digital version of the Ordnance Survey map does not show a feature at this location.
