Full Description
Lynchets, 1/2 mile E. of the church, are on a N. slope with regular terraces 9 to 10 yds wide with a fall of 5 to 10 ft. <1>
A: Centred at SY 53919242; B: Centred at SY 54389251, A: An area of pronounced grass covered Md strip lynchets, from 0.5m to 2.0m high, regulrly spaced, as described in T.I. B: Poorly defined and scattered strip lynchets which appear to make use of natural scarps in many instances the terraces being laid out between these scarps. The areas are well shown on AP CPE/UK/2431/3154. <2>
Medieval strip lynchets on the northern slopes of Askerwell Down. The features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and LiDAR imagery. <4-6>
