Monument record MDO233 - Lime kiln on White Sheet Hill, Beaminster
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-2) Ordnance Survey map. The date of the kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. This kiln was visited by Peter Stanier in 1992-93, and he noted that very little (1-19%) of the structure survived; what remained was in bad condition and it was not possible to determine what type of kiln construction this was.
