A bronze Age bronze palstave axe was found at Walford Farm, Wimborne during 1873. It is now in the Durden Collection of the British Museum (accession number 1892-9-1). The exact find spot is not known.

Full Description

[Area centred SU01200092] Palstave fd. at Walford Farm, nr. Wimborne, 1873. B.M 1892-9-1. <2> The people living at WALFORD FARM did not know anything about this palstave. Nothing of interest ie. prehistoric implements or ancient objects, has been turned up during ploughing at this farm during recent years. Authority in T.1. not consulted. <3> A Bronze Palstave axe was found at 'Walford Farm', Wimborne during 1873. It was held in the Durden collection of the British Museum in 1951. <1> It is not know if there is any more precise locational information for this findspot at the British Museum. Currently mapped at Walford Farm house, although it could have been found in any of the fields around it.
