Full Description

Two stone foundation courses of a wall, though to be part of the east wall of St Peter's Chapel, or possibly a boundary wall associated with it, were excavated in a test pit by the East Dorset Antiqaurian Society during October 2009. The chapel is recorded from the 14th century but may be of earlier origin. Four other test pits contained disarticulated humans remains associated with the disturbed graveyard for the chapel. Two tesserae were found associated with the wall, potentially of Roman or Saxon date and may indicate the presence of an earlier roman building close to the site or that the chapel was of Saxon origins [1].
