Summary
A 'Clay Pit', marked on the Ordnance Survey maps of 1885 and 1900, not shown on subsequent maps. The earthworks of a large clay pit are shown at this location on current Lidar imagery. The clay pit may reflect an amalgamation of this clay pit and a larger pit (MDO23462) to the southwest, also shown on the OS 1st Edition map. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
The earthworks of a large clay pit are shown at this location on current Lidar imagery (3). The clay pit may reflect an amalgamation of this clay pit and a larger pit (MDO23462) to the southwest; both pits are shown on the OS 1st Edition map (1).
The clay pit comprises u-shaped earthworks 62m long by 57m wide. To the north of this is a larger scarped depression, which is recorded separately under brick works MDO23465.
The site is under dense tree cover on current Google Earth imagery. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
