Summary
Brick Works, marked on the Ordnance Survey maps of 1885 and 1900, not shown on subsequent maps. A large scarped depression is shown at this location on current Lidar imagery, which may reflect the area comprising the post medieval brickworks and/or a large clay pit associated with these. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description
A large scarped depression is shown at this location on current Lidar imagery (3). The feature may reflect a clay pit associated with the post medieval brickworks shown on the OS 1st Edition map (1). The northwest section is visible on 1940s aerial photographs, where a building at the location of a brick kiln (MDO23464) can also be seen (4). The southern section is under tree cover by 1946 (4).
The feature comprises an irregular scooped earthwork 74m long by 67m wide. To the south are additional earthworks; clay pits MDO23462 and MDO23463.
The site is under dense tree cover on current Google Earth imagery. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
