Summary
A possibly medieval arched stone culvert was observed in Ludbourne Road, Sherborne during 1951. The culvert was 6 ft wide at the base and 4 ft 2 inches wide. Mr. Bean suggested a medieval date.

Full Description
C.E. Bean observed a finely constructed arched stone culvert in Ludbourne Road during 1951. It is not clear whether this observation was made during the digging of surface water drains in the adjacent car park. The culvert was 6ft wide at the base and 4ft 2 inches high. Mr. Bean suggested a medieval date. An inspection cover has been placed over it for future examination. [1]
A post medieval stone culvert was observed during a watching brief on groundworks for the Sainsbury's superstore in 1998. It is not clear if this is the same culvert or not [2].
