Full Description
Two mid-late 4th century coins were found at Lenthay Common, south of the railway track at ST629154, together with 4th century, pottery during construction work in 1976 (1).
The coins were of Valentinian I, minted at Lyons and dated AD364-75; the other was illegible but also minted at Lyons in AD347-8 (2).
The nature of the construction work is not specified and could be connecte with the sewrage works or irrigation works in the vicinity. The find spot is located approximately 500m east of the Lenthay Roman villa site.
