2628Old chalk pits shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1885. (1) The chalk pit described above in (1) is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946, but appears to have been levelled at a later date. The pit measures approximately 46 m by 35 m. (2-3) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
