Summary
The lower cross stood at the angle formed by the junction of Half Moon street and Duck Street (South Street), opposite the Old Crown Inn. The cross possibly dated from the 14th century.

Full Description
The Lower Cross stood at the junction of the Half Moon Street and Duck Street. The cross was taken down "many years ago". <1>
The site of a cross supposed to have been erected in the 14th. Century. <2>
ST 63891649 Site of Lower Cross shown 5.9m W.S.W. of O.S. 25" siting symbol. Duck Street is that which is now called South Street. <4>
The siting of the Lower Cross had been altered to conform with the position clearly shown on the 1802 plan (authority b). There are no visible remains of the cross. <5>
