Full Description
(Area centred at SY 59788642). Field systems. <1>
An area of grass covered field banks and lynchets averaging 0.3m high. These form irregular enclosures of Iron Age/Romano British type. <2>
The earthwork remains of a later prehistoric field system are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs <4-5> on the steep south facing slope to the north-west of Portesham. The site lies on a different alignment to the system described in MDO24178 which lies immediately to the north. The features were digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
