Summary

Bronze Age bowl barrow, part of an extensive linear cemetery running along the ridgeway. In 1972 this monument was recorded as 45 feet in diameter with a mound about 1½ feet high. Visible as a cropmark ring ditch on aerial photographs. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Full Description

Bowl barrow 45 feet in diameter by 1 1/2 feet high. (4) SY 66778640 Bowl barrow in arable, ploughed down. Diameter 23.0m, height 0.3m. No visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. (3) Grinsell recorded this barrow as 18 paces in diameter and 2 feet in height. (2) Visible as a cropmark ring ditch on aerial photographs (7). The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
