Summary
A group of pits are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs. They are considered likely to be extractive pits of post medieval origin, although some could also be natural shake holes.

Full Description
A group of pits are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs {1-5}. One is shown on the 1880 OS map {6} as a chalk pit and is considered likely to be of post medieval origin. The remainder are probably of a similar origin, although some could also be natural shake holes. They were digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
