Find Spot record MDO2534 - Roman occupation, Stoke Abbott
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Surface finds of tesserae have been reported from this field, which is situated below the Roman fort at Waddon Hill. A linear feature which it is said may be the remains of a flint wall, disturbed by the plough, has also been seen here. This may indicate an area of occupation in the Roman period, though it should be noted that the reported finds do not appear to include pottery or other material of a domestic nature.
