Full Description
Electrotype of Gaulish gold coin of Bellovacian type on display in Dorset County Museum. It was ploughed up near Waddon Hill. <1>
The coin in the possession of Mr Wyatt, was found by him in 1916, in a field which was under the plough. The find-spot (ST 44400012), which Mr Wyatt was able to point out to within 10 yards, was in a gulley (still traceable) that had been created by a violent rain storm.
Mr. Wyatt has found no other traces of antiquity in the vicinity, and nothing was discovered in the area, which is now grass-covered, during field investigation. <2>
