Summary
A group of five pits are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs. One is shown on the 1880 OS map as an old chalk pit and is considered likely to be of post medieval origin. The remainder are probably of a similar origin.

A group of five pits are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs {1-3}. One is shown on the 1880 OS map {4} as an old chalk pit and is considered likely to be of post medieval origin. The remainder are probably of a similar origin, although they could also be natural shake holes. They were digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project
