Full Description

A village cross with an octagonal base and the lower part of an octagonal shaft is situated at the crossroads 200 yds north-east of Sydling St Nicholas Church. Pope refers to the cross as C15th but DOE give the date "Probably C14th". <2-3> As described. See photograph. <4> SY 63179939: partly chamfered octagonal base 1.0m in diameter and 0.65m high. The shaft, of two parts, stands 1.1m high, 0.4m square at the base and octagonal above. Surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. <5>
