Full Description

Two small oval enclosures with adjacent structures (possibly pillboxes) are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 on Chesil Beach opposite Rodden Hive. The enclosure are possibly constucted of barbed wire or similar and are considered to date to WWII. They are situated within the Abbotsbury Defence which was defended by the 6th Battalion Durham Light Infantry. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
