Summary

This barrow was opened by antiquarian Charles Warne, who found a cremation burial in an up-turned bucket urn. Visible on aerial photographs as a 19m diameter cropmark ring ditch with internal mound. Digitally plotted for the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Full Description

Two disc barrows <4>, or possibly saucer barrows <2>, situated about 300 yards north of the Ridgeway. 'B'. Now destroyed. Identified by RCHM as Warne's No.2. a disc barrow adjoining No.1, in which he found a primary cremation with a fragmentary bucked urn. (Grinsell lists 'B' as Warne's No. 1, and 'A' as Warne's No. 2). <1> <2> <4> No trace of 'B'. <5> Visible on aerial photographs <8> as a 19m diameter cropmark ring ditch with internal mound.
