Summary
Table-Tombs, stone with moulded cornices, unless otherwise described. 1) "Here lieth the body of William Clift ..." died 1755. Aged 50 years. His wife died 1779. Fielded-panel pilaster corners with heads and skull-and-crossbones in top panels. 2) White limestone. "Here lieth the body of Daniel Hearn of Kershay, Gent." died 1715, aged 40. Curtained, wavy centre panel with cherub at top. Rosette with sunflower garlands in side panels. Carved coats of arms in cartouches: 3 swans and a chevron (west face). skull-and-crossbones (east face). 3) "sacred to the memory of Mary, wife of Thomas Crode, who died Nov 17th 1772, aged 60. She was the surviving daughter of John Hearn of Mangerton, Gentleman, who died Anno 1729. Aged 52". Later inscriptions added to Thomas Crode, died 1789, and Catherine Hull, died 1814. Coat of arms on west face, with further inscriptions. Skull-and-crossbones on east face, with further inscriptions. 4) "In memory of John, son of Richd Henvill Gent" died 1702. Inscription deteriorates. Bolection-moulded panels, rounded ends with same panels. Coat of arms on east end. Hipped top block. 5) Much defaced top stone and main side panels, characterized by carved figure in relief, in side panels north, one male, one female. Source: R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p 172, col 1.
