Summary

Bowl barrow, lies in dense woodland and is thickly overgrown. 44ft. in diam and 4ft. high. The barrow is visible as an earthwork on lidar imagery of 2010.

Full Description

Two round barrows in Clyffe Copse are covered in a tangled growth of bushes, but neither of them bears any trace of mutilation or any indication of a surrounding ditch. 'A' - SY 78139243. Bowl barrow, 16-0m diameter and 0.6m high in the southern quadrant. <2> 'A' - (6) - SY 78139244. Bowl barrow, about 44 ft diameter and about 4ft high, lies in dense woodland and thickly overgrown. Grinsell refers to this barrow as 18 paces diameter x 2ft high. <3-4> 'A' SY 78149243 and 'B' SY 78169242. Both these barrows survive but are so thickly overgrown that it is impossible to determine their exact size. Reportrayed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. Graphical material omitted. see auth 5 Re-surveyed 1/2500 23.1.81. <5> The barrow referred to above is visible as an earthwork on lidar imagery of 2010. It is sub-circular in shape and measures 13 m in diameter. <6> The barrow is scheduled with another barrow, located immediately to the east (see MDO2726). This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
