Full Description
Chapel, built about 1815 and altered circa 1879. It is constructed from brick with terracotta dressings and a slate roof. To the front there is a entrance gable with a late 19th century moulded pediment containing an oculus dated 1815 over triple round-arched windows. There is a gabled late 19th century entrance porch with a mid 20th century doorway. This chapel replaces a previous one of 1735 in West Butts Street, which is marked by a plaque. A late 19th century porch has a similar moulded pediment supported by pilasters, to a mid 20th century doorway with architrave to a 2-leaf 8-panel door. Original 3-door entrance blocked, the central doorway obscured by the porch. In 1804 a Particular Baptist church was formed to succeed that at West Butts Street, opening a meeting house in Bowling Green Alley, and in 1815 built the present chapel in Hill Street.
