Summary

Manor House in own grounds of about 1810. Lias stone, ashlar walls with fine jointing, coursed rubble-stone plinth and slate roofs.

Full Description

Rebuilt in modern times but incorporates some features form earlier buildings. The garden wall N of the house incorporates many 15th, 16th & 17th century features including 2 stone mullioned windows and the wall W of the house. <2> Chideock Manor. In the process of being partly demolished and partly reconstructed. The building is comparatively modern but incorporates older fire places of Tudor type <3.1>. Descriptions in T2 & 3 correct. No information concerning a former house was obtained during field investigation <3> A rapid examination of air photography (4a) suggests the layout of a formal garden is visible as parchmarks on the small lawn at the southeast corner of the house, in the angle between the chapel and the house. <4>
