Full Description
A group of fields whose form indicates that they were formed through the enclosure of medieval strip fields. There is one block of long, narrow fields with parallel and slightly curving field boundaries, now topped by hedgerows. Elsewhere fields formed by the amalgamation of two or three strips can be seen. In other places, though the fields are less distinctly strip shaped, the boundaries exhibit the S-shaped (aratral) curves and dog-legs characteristic of the enclosure of strip fields. The area outlined on the map indicates only that group of fields which vertical aerial photographs taken in 2009 and the current (2012) digital map base suggest are best preserved; it is not intended to indicate the extent of medieval open fields in the area. {1} {2}
