Summary

A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as an earthwork on Lidar imagery. It is situated on the south end of a ridge near Hethfelton Farm. In 1970 the barrow was described as being around 46 feet in diameter with a mound about four feet high.

Full Description

A large bowl barrow. <2> A bracken and tree covered mound. Diameter 17.0 metres, height 1.2 metres. There is no sign of a berm or ditch, and is slightly mutilated by rabbit holes. No surface finds were made in the vicinity of this bowl barrow. <3> SY 85838739. Bowl barrow, 46ft. diameter and 4ft. high on the south end of a ridge. <4> SY 859874. Round barrow north-east of Hethfelton Farm. Scheduled. <5> SY 85838738. A bowl barrow in woodland, completely overgrown with impenetrable undergrowth. Revised at 1:2500 on M.S.D. from previous measurements (auth.3.). <6> This feature is visible as an earthwork mound on Lidar imagery <7>. The mound measures approximately 9.2m in diameter. It was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
