Full Description
Second World War anti-tank blocks are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s across the eastern and western approaches to Boscombe Pier. The blocks are in two groups, 14 blocks to the west and 14 to the east, arranged partly in two parallel lines. (1) Anti-tank blocks, made of reinforced concrete, were one of the coastal crust defence measures used to protect vulnerable areas during the Second World War. The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
