Summary
A Second World War military site is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s on the eastern side of Durley Chine. The site consists of a large rectangular building with a path leading up to it and four square possible tent bases around it. The site is of unknown use but is located adjacent to the north of a pillbox and an adjacent building (see MDO28614-5) and probably also had a defensive function.

Full Description
A Second World War military site is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s on the eastern side of Durley Chine. The site consists of a large rectangular building with a path leading up to it and four square possible tent bases around it. The site is of unknown use but is located adjacent to the north of a pillbox and an adjacent building (see MDO28614-5) and probably also had a defensive function. The building measures 18.5 m by 6 m and the tent bases are approximately 4.5 m square. (1-2) The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (3) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
