Summary

Three possible Second World War military buildings are visible on aerial photographs of the 1945 to the south of Westminster Road and to the east of Branksome Chine. The buildings are located behind a post medieval or early modern seafront wall (see MDO28618) and are no longer visible on photographs of 1948.

Full Description

Three possible Second World War military buildings are visible on aerial photographs of the 1945 to the south of Westminster Road and to the east of Branksome Chine. (1) The buildings are located behind a post medieval or early modern seafront wall (see MDO28618) and are no longer visible on photographs of 1948. (2) The buildings are of unknown use but may have had a defensive function. Two of the buildings measure 3 m by 2 m and the third measures 5 m by 2 m. The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (3) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
