A possible Second World War army camp is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the west of Bournemouth Pier. The camp consists of eight rectangular buildings, seven oriented north-south and one lying perpendicular to them. The buildings are visible over an area measuring approximately 40 m by 28 m. (1) The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
