The area of Boscombe Pier demolished during the Second World War as an anti-invasion measure is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s. The photographs show that the structures on the pier have been removed and a section measuring approximately 38 m in length has beeen demolished. (1) The most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project shows the pier as reconstructed in the post war period. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
