A scattered area of seven Second World War bomb craters are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1947 in and to the south of Penelope Park in the south western area of Brownsea Island. The craters are visible as sub-circular depressions, six with banks of spoil around them, measuring between 6 m and 9 m in diameter. (1) The craters are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
