A scattered area of four Second World War bomb craters are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1947 in the area of Swindale and Green Dale, in the southern central area of Brownsea Island. The craters are visible as sub-circular depressions, three with banks of spoil around them, measuring between 4 m and 18 m in diameter. (1) The craters are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
