Full Description
Three Second World War bomb craters are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1947 to the south of Portland Avenue, in the southern central area of Brownsea Island. The craters are visible as sub-circular depressions, measuring between 5 m and 8 m in diameter. Two craters are conjoined with banks of spoil around them. (1) The craters are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
