Two Second World War bomb craters are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1947 to the south of St Andrew's Hill in the eastern area of Brownsea Island. The craters are visible as sub-circular depressions surrounded by banks of spoil. The northernmost crater measures 5 m in diameter and the southernmost measures 11 m in diameter. (1) The southernmost crater only is still visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
